Oh, Robbie. What to say about one of the nicest people you’ve ever met?
The skating world was full of not-so-nice people. Like any competitive sport, there were back-stabbers and unprofessional coaches. So when you found someone like Robbie, one of the kindest, most professional coaches, you considered yourself very lucky. I still do to this day.
Robbie treated all of his skaters equally – from his Olympic-caliber to the littlest beginners. When you were in a lesson with him, it was your time and he was completely focused on you and improving your skill. He also encouraged his skaters to have lives outside the rink.
He was simply a great person. Right before our wedding, Robbie sent me flowers. He was so sweet. I always felt cared for in Robbie’s presence.
You were lucky to have Robbie as part of your life during so many of your formative years. He is truly one of the good people in this world. I was afraid you would never find anyone who could live up to him!
