...imagine my surprise tonight when browsing through the latest issue of Lucky when what do I see in the shopping report but WILMINGTON, DE. I would imagine most people reading Lucky think, "Hmmmmm, DE, what's that short for?"
Apparently, a new boutique, Lolita, opened up there last fall offering the latest and greatest in fashion. I immediately thought I must know the owners, since everyone who lives or has lived in Delaware knows everyone who lives or has lived in Delaware.
I have to admit, I was a bit insulted at the first paragraph, which stated, "Delaware has long suffered a lack of truly great boutiques..."
Um, hello? The great pink sequined prom dress of 1996 was bought in Delaware. And the shoes were dyed in Delaware! If this is not the height of fashion, I don't know what is.

and here I always pictured you wearing one of your skating outfits to prom....

My dress was neon blue sequined with spaghetti straps and it ended about where your slit begins. Bleh! But I didn't have matching shoes though..... :)

Woah, baby.
Did you win prom queen with that dress? Loving all that leg you're showing. ;)

Dyed to match shoes... now those were something weren't they? And yours were particularly pointy, they look uber uncomfortable! You should see my junior prom dress... it was a vision of raspberry sheer poofiness not soon forgotten. LOL

You truely are a vision in that little number...of course my formal dresses were a few years before you and I was rockin the Lady Di ruffles (in apricot, no less) like the fashion victim/slave I was LOL

I am struck by how the pink in the dress mimics the pink in the tree from a couple of posts ago.
You're rocking the pink sequins!

Wow-- you look HOT! Who was the lucky guy??
Posted by: Carolyn | 09 April 2008 at 01:11 PM
You CRACK me up!!! Even more importantly, though, I had an almost *identical* high school prom dress. Let's see if I can dig up a picture...

the 90s were much more kind to prom-goers than the 80s were. :p
lolita is cute. worth a visit the next time you're home.

Remember Dad wanting us to sew up the slit? LOL
L,M

Nice Slit! Mrs. Kirk, I cannot believe you let her out of the house like that... Marsh really would have sewn up that slit.
Posted by: Mercer | 10 April 2008 at 12:53 PM
Cut that winner off at the top of the slit
and you get THE hottest ice skating outfit.
(I bet that's what you did.)
Mercer, for the prom, Marsh would have duct taped the slit.

Mercer, you never told me your prom dress stap broke on the dance floor. I would have duct taped that beforehand.

Mom, I thought stapling was your fix-it strategy.
Posted by: Mercer | 11 April 2008 at 09:30 AM
Stapling is only good for hems and side seams.
Posted by: Marsha | 11 April 2008 at 09:39 AM
Mercer and Marsha...
I stapled all of Laura's badges (Brownies and Girl Scouts) to that sash they went on. What a terrible mother. LOL

We had to go to a wedding one day when I was about 12 and my dress was too big. So my mom stapled the sides! Although I could not raise my arms for fear of getting poked, the dress looked pretty good.
