...I work with a lot of publications. And I've woken up in the middle of the night sweating about typos. So when I read about the "Pet Foot Settlement" in the Baltimore Sun this morning, it made me feel a little bit better. We are all human. Imagine that.
...I started out last semester with a quote our professor gave us, so I thought I would start out this semester the same way...From Joan Didion in The Norton Book of Personal Essays, On Keeping a Notebook:
"...I imagine, in other words, that the notebook is about other people. But of course it is not...My stake is always, of course, in the unmentioned girl in the plaid silk dress. Remember what it was to be me: that is always the point."
...Thank you for all the wonderful birthday wishes. As I was traveling to the wedding, it was so fun to read them here and on Facebook.
...The wedding was beautiful. Molly is a spectacular person and I think she's met her match in Jeff. My health issues cleared enough to party like a rock star on Saturday night. I believe we danced to every single song the band played.
Unfortunately, at the end of the night we realized the "locked" room the bridesmaids stuff had been kept in had been robbed. My camera is gone, as is my wallet, including my photos from the weekend. Disappointed is putting it lightly, but I have a great group of paparazzi girlfriends who I know will pull through with lots of photos to share.
On the plane home yesterday I was reading the police report, and sometimes you just have to laugh. I hadn't read it at 4 a.m. when I filed it, but I noticed where the police officer described the victim, it said 5'8" (it's 5'10", but whatever), brown eyes (they are blue, but whatever), and 105 pounds. Hahahaha. I'm pretty sure I weighed 105 last in ummm, fifth grade? Maybe he was just trying to make me feel better...
Today I turn 29. I am officially at that age where 30 no longer seems old.
So in 365 days I will turn 30. I will have lived 10,950 days. And I'm going to celebrate by highlighting a person a day who has been along for the ride on one of those 10,950 days.
To do this, I've set up a new sub-blog (you'll see a link to the left). Like my regular blog, I'll post every day. Some are friends, some are family, some are friends from a previous life, and some just are. I'm sure I'm not the first to do this, but I thought it would be something fun to do over the next year.
Thank you, in advance, to everyone who has been along for the ride.
