...today is my baby daddy's twenty-fifth birthday (plus ten).
I can't really explain what it's like to have Ken. I can't really explain the feeling of relief that comes over me when he walks in the door every night. I can't really explain how we work when he wears a t-shirt and boxers to bed in the dead of winter and lately I've taken to "double sweatshirting." But I think what Meryl Streep said about her husband last night at the Oscar's sums it up pretty well: "I want him to know that everything I value most in our lives you’ve given me."

...house update
...I've gotten a few questions about how the house is going. We're at a little bit of a stand-still as we wait for the floors to arrive. They are worth it, I keep telling myself, especially when I saw this picture on the flooring company's Facebook page.
The septic and well went in this week. I know you'll be waiting on pins and needles for pictures of that.
Our rental looks something like a home supply company, which is awesome considering that it's now on the market.
(Rental wreath. Rental Monet. But that is our brand spanking new toilet, baby!)
...the best made plans
...and by "made plans" I mean, the Valentine's craft that mommy actually made. And of course, Charlie woke up yesterday with a fever and that meant no school today. So his classmates will be celebrating Valentine's Day again on Thursday. Luckily, they are two and their memory is about as good as that of a golden retriever, so they probably won't realize it.
I found these crayon rings at Paper Source a few weeks ago. And I'm dating myself with this paper I pulled from my stash. Good ol' Christina Cole. Do all you geriatric scrapbookers (like me?) remember this awesome paper?
...random friday ramblings of a new SAHM
...at approximately 12:41 p.m. today, there was not one piece of dirty laundry in my entire house. Then I changed Clara's diaper and she peed all over herself and me, so that was that.
...charlie is currently up in his crib for nap (after having thrown his pillow, blanket, and lovey out) clapping for himself. Good job, bud. Now sleep.
...Ken calls when I have to use my stern voice with people my "Mrs. Kurz" voice. I've had to use it way too many times this week with people about house stuff. Why can't people just do their jobs? I never found it that hard to do.
...My business cards arrived today. Now I just need some biznass.
...Since I'm now a SAHM and all I do is watch soaps and eat bon bons (I now know that this is a universal word for "treat" - I learned that at SAHM school), I've added a new hobby: Words with Friends. If you want to feel good about how smart you are, feel free to start a game with me. Because I'm stupid. And I only play at night.
...My latest favorite song is The Cape by Eric Bibb. It reminds me of Charlie. So I did a page using it:

...the exterior went up in a flash and now it's time to focus on the inside. Little things like doors to the pantry (Charlie is pretty enamored with all the pocket doors. Doors! That disappear!):

(...and the wrong paint color put on the walls. We went with Benjamin Moore's "Gray Mist" and the paint color that was put up was much more...ummm...ivory mist?)
