...it really does seem like yesterday that she was the infant that could only be soothed by a motion we should have trademarked as the "clara,"which I can only best describe as curling one's infant. Picture that.
Those were dark days.
She will turn one in 19 days.
She is still feisty. She screams in happiness. And unhappiness. She is an Olympic Raspberry Blower. She has dimples on her elbows and an umbilical hernia.
She signs and tries to say, "done," which she signed today in the carseat. Which she is still unsure of. You can't restrain this girl.
Ahhhh the curls. Will I always remember how they feel when her head brushes up against my nose?
She has grown into her ears. I know my mom was worried about that.
She walks. Have I mentioned that? She walks. She has been for more than a month. It's a bit frankenstein-ish, but it gets her from Point A to Point B.
She is all up in his business. All up in it.
His patience grows in leaps and bounds every day and for that I am so proud of him (and her, for teaching him how to be a big brother). He likes to hold her now and tries to pick her up. He is trying, so hard, to say her name.
We love you, Clara Louise.

just love that last photo of them together. :)

What a lovely, lovely post. It's so fun to remember their first birthdays. We woke our son up on his first birthday by rolling the Little Tikes Mini Cozy Coupe car into his bedroom and clapping and squealing with delight ... that would be Mom clapping and squealing with delight. He had no clue what was going on. It was so funny. Treasure your last first birthday! She is an absolute doll and the last photo of the two of them on the computer is absolutely precious. I can see it blown up to 8x10 in black and white and framed on the wall forever. It's that special!

How fast did she grow?! You can't restrain Simon either. I think it's the "if you have the perfect first child, the second child is like this" thing.

Brooke, I always said that if Laura had been my first, she would have been my last! She was a really "trying" child....but look how she turned out! LOL

She is precious. Davis has an umbilical hernia, too. Has her's gotten smaller since she was born? Just curious, because Davis' has gotten a bit smaller, but it's not gone yet. One doctor told me it should be gone by the time he's one, or he'll need surgery.
Can't believe she's almost one, time sure flies!

P.S. My son had an umbilical hernia too. It healed on its own by his 5th birthday.

she is sooo cute! her hair reminds me of Zachary's, his was curly and then at 2 we had to cut it because it was so long and not one curl came back, broke my heart...but since Clara is a girl, you can grow out her curls and hopefully never lose them!! They are both precious, love Charlie's look at the computer, so interested, it's cute!

OH, yes, that last picture+paragraph brought tears to my eyes. That is such a lovely moment of a true relationship caught forever. Her curls are to die for :)

Those curls are amazing. Poor Gracie, I'm not sure she'll ever grow into her ear. Just one to grow into, the other one is more appropriately sized. We called it her pixie ear when she was younger but I'm not sure that's going to be funny or cute to her as she grows up.

My heart is bursting for you! What a magical little pair! Thank you for sharing them with us : )

I can't believe she's one. I feels like her infant photos were just up in the SC gallery. Other people's kids grow so fast. Just like others seem to be pregnant for a few weeks while your own pregnancy last for a decade.

Oh, I just adore her! She's such a classic beauty, isn't she?!
I can't believe our girls are ONE! ONE! GAH! I'm still working on my "one year" post for Hattie. I don't expect anyone to read it... and keep up. LOL. I feel like I dont' want to miss ANYTHING, so it's SUPER long. LOL. I'm sure that's just a "first child thing," but I don't care. I'm savoring every single ounce. :-)
