...tomorrow is my mom's surgery. Tonight, we pack. And like my mother, I will be going to the hospital with four books. Because you just never know when you'll need another book. I swore on everything holy that I had no interest in the Hunger Games trilogy, and here I am, sucked in just like every other pre-teen out there. What's next, vampires?
Thank you for understanding my quietness over the last few weeks as I figure my way through this and try to find my voice. Thank you for your e-mails, quietly poking, just to make sure everything is OK. Thank you for your thoughts and your friendships.

I thought I was the only one packed multiple books for hospital trips. That and coloring books... i always take adult coloring books and my own set of sharp colored pencils.
Tons of prayers for your Mom, you, and everyone fighting that awful C word.

Will be thinking of you, and your mom. And yes, Hunger Games is worth it. I avoided it for a long time based on the description but it was just too good once I finally started!

It's the 4th here, and I've been thinking of your Mom this morning. Bless you all.
And yes, I read the Hunger Games, finally - and was surprised how much I relished it.
Reading of how your community of friends has under-girded you (and your Mom) during this difficult time truly warms my heart. Take care.

If you love the Hunger Games, I would also recommend Suzanne Collins' other series - The Underland Chronicles - it's kind of a little more childish, but very good. And right now I'm reading Victoria Roth's Divergent series - they are excellent too! I pray all goes well with the surgery!!

Thinking of you and your Mom...
Sometimes a good book is a magical distraction.
